Escape With Us

In 2019 while scrolling through Facebook we came across a chap from Czech Republic who was bringing wagons over to the UK.  We had considered shepherds huts but the sturdiness of the wagons, coupled with the space for king size beds (we are tall!), made these utility wagons a great fit for the farm.

We have three wagons, Brunhilda, Helga and Gertrude, named after some our sows and Reno’s penchant for all things Viking related.  These three old girls will make your Pennines escape more than just a little bit special.  Get in touch with us directly or book through Air B&B.  Check out the additional information below.

Brunhilda & Bjorn

Brunhilda is paired up with ‘Bjorn’ and if the perfect escape for a couple.  Brunhilda has a king size bed, plenty of space and good head height.  Bjorn has a small kitchen and shower/composting loo on wheels.  This is off grid escapism with a solar system to light up Bjorn, a small camping stove and running hot/cold water and a usb connection.  The kitchen is well stocked with pots/pans/ cutlery/matches/a cold box and basic cooking stuff like olive oil, salt and pepper, also tea and coffee.

Helga, Gertrude, Gunner & Harald

Helga and Gertrude come as a pair so sleep can sleep four, ideal for two couples or a family.  These two are accompanied by Gunnar (the loo and shower) and Harald (the kitchen and seating area), solar panels provide lighting in these two workhorses, again they have a gas hob, pots, pans, cutlery, cool box, matches and basic cooking stuff like olive oil, salt and pepper and also tea and coffee.

Outside both camps is a picnic bench and fire pit which can also used as a BBQ.  There is a small supply of logs provided and extra can be purchased.

Other important stuff...

Towels/tea towels are provided

There is no heating in the wagons so please bring plenty of warm clothes, we have thick duvets and blankets, but please be prepared for the cooler nights

We live up a track which is quite bumpy, its fine if you drive slowly, but alas if your car is very low or delicate then maybe this isn’t for you!

We are a working farm, the camp is well away from the farmyard but sometimes farm noises may interrupt the peace!

We welcome folk to explore our farmland, we can supply you with a map, if you’re a birder bring your binoculars,

Our dark skies are something to behold, make sure you look up...and if you’re a star gazer come prepared!

Penrith is our local town, 25 minutes away, locally there are shops in Kirkoswald, Lazonby (10 minutes away) and Langwathby (15 minutes away)

Kirkoswald has two great pubs, ideal for evening meals

We have our own sausages, bacon and eggs, and in the growing season veg in the garden, all available to buy

Lastly and most importantly we hope to provide a place to recharge, absorb the awesome view, make memories in front of the fire, embrace the fresh air and for a little while go back to the simple pleasure of life
